Date on Weekday Finder
Every date in a year that falls on Monday, Friday, or any weekday you pick.
Dates on a weekday
Choose a year and a weekday.
This finder lists every civil date in a year that falls on one chosen weekday. Pick Monday to see every Monday; pick Friday to see every Friday. The output is a date list, not a month grid and not a count-only total. People use it to schedule recurring office hours, collection days, classroom specials, or inspection routes that must land on the same weekday all year.
Why a date list beats mental counting
A year has 52 or 53 occurrences of each weekday. Leap years and the weekday of January 1 decide which weekdays appear 53 times. Counting by tapping a wall calendar is slow and error-prone around month boundaries. The list names each date so a spreadsheet or mail-merge can consume it without reconstructing weekdays.
The job is different from weekday occurrences in a year, which returns a count for one weekday, and from weekdays in a year, which totals Monday–Friday dates together. Here the deliverable is the dates themselves.
How to run the finder
Choose a year and a weekday, then calculate. Read the ordered list from January through December. In 2026 the list reflects that year’s leap status and January 1 weekday. Export or copy the dates into a planner; the page does not create a downloadable .ics file—that belongs on the ICS generator if you need calendar import.
If you only need the next single occurrence after today, a next-weekday tool is a better fit. This page is for the full-year set: every Thursday in 2026, every Saturday, or whichever day you selected.
Fifty-two versus fifty-three dates
Each weekday occurs at least 52 times. The leftover one or two days of the year (365 = 52×7+1, 366 = 52×7+2) assign extra occurrences to the weekdays that appear at the beginning or end of the year. A leap year that starts on Thursday, for example, gives Thursday and Friday 53 dates. The list length tells you which case you are in without a separate lecture.
Do not assume every weekday has the same count. People who schedule “52 weekly slots” in a 53-Thursday year will miss a date. People who assume 53 Fridays in a common year that only has 52 will invent a phantom Friday. Use the list length as the source of truth.
Worked examples
A city bulk-trash route runs every Wednesday. Public works enters the year and Wednesday, then pastes the dates into the route calendar so crews are not guessing fifth Wednesdays. They still skip city holidays manually; this list is weekdays, not a workday calendar with observed closures.
A clinic offers flu shots only on Tuesdays. Staff generate the Tuesday list for 2026, then delete dates that fall on observed federal holidays after checking 2026 holidays. The finder does not subtract holidays by itself.
Month boundaries and fifth occurrences
Some months contain five Fridays; others contain four. The yearly list makes those fifth Fridays visible without opening twelve month pages. If the operational question is the fifth Friday of a named month only, the nth-weekday calculator is more precise. If the question is every Friday regardless of ordinal, stay on this page.
December dates still belong to the civil year you entered even when ISO week 1 of the next year has already started. This list is civil dates, not ISO week membership. Pair with week number 2026 only when a report needs both the date and its ISO week.
Leap day on the chosen weekday
When February 29 falls on the weekday you selected, it appears in the list like any other date. That extra occurrence is often the difference between 52 and 53 for that weekday in a leap year. Scheduling systems that skip February 29 must delete it after export; the finder includes it because it is a real civil date.
Century years that are not leap years omit February 29, which can change which weekday gets the extra count compared with a nearby leap year. Always regenerate the list for the actual year rather than copying last leap year’s Fridays forward.
What not to use this list for
It is not a payroll calendar. Pay dates that move when they hit Saturday need a pay-period tool. It is not a school instructional calendar; weekends chosen as the weekday would list Saturdays, which most K–12 calendars treat as non-instructional. It is not Friday the 13th unless you pick Friday and then filter the 13ths yourself—use the dedicated Friday the 13th page for that filter.
For a visual year of month grids with a weekday highlighted, a workday calendar may be easier to screenshot. For a raw list you can sort and join to other data, this finder is the right shape.
Spreadsheets and mail merge
Paste the date list into a column and derive month names with spreadsheet date functions rather than retyping. Mail merge for a Wednesday class can use the list as the data source. Keep a header row that states the year and weekday so a file named dates.csv is not mistaken for a Friday list next term.
When the list is used as a checklist, add a status column in the spreadsheet, not on this page. The finder will not store completion. Regenerating 2026 after a policy meeting is unnecessary unless the year was entered wrong; the civil weekday of each date is not a policy choice.
Fifth Fridays and payroll myths
Fifth Fridays exist in some months and not others. The yearly Friday list makes them obvious. They are not extra paydays unless an employer’s frequency is weekly on Friday. Semi-monthly staff should not treat a fifth Friday as a third check. That confusion belongs on pay-period tools, not on this weekday date list.
Frequently asked questions
What dates does the weekday finder list in a year?
It returns every civil date in the selected year that falls on the weekday you chose. The list runs from January through December and includes February 29 when that leap day lands on the chosen weekday. It is a date list, not a count-only total and not a month grid with highlighted cells.
How many times can one weekday occur in a year?
Each weekday occurs 52 or 53 times. A common year has one leftover day after 52 weeks; a leap year has two. Those leftover days assign extra occurrences to the weekdays that appear at the year edges. The list length is the reliable count for the year you entered.
Why is this different from the weekday count tools?
Weekdays in a year totals all Monday–Friday dates. The occurrences calculator counts one weekday and stops at the number. This finder names each matching date so routes, clinics, and mail merges can consume the set. Choose the count pages when you only need a total for a report.
When does February 29 appear in the list?
February 29 appears when the year is a Gregorian leap year and the leap day falls on the weekday you selected. Century years must be divisible by 400 to be leap years. If you pick a weekday other than the leap day’s weekday, the 29th is omitted even in a leap year.
How should holidays be handled on the list?
The finder does not remove US federal observed holidays. Generate the weekday dates, then delete or flag closures using a holiday calendar for that year. A Wednesday list still includes Christmas when December 25 is a Wednesday; operations teams apply closures as a second pass.
Is this the same as listing Friday the 13ths?
No. Choosing Friday lists every Friday, including dates other than the 13th. Friday the 13th is a separate filter: months whose 13th is Friday, which means the 1st is Sunday. Use the Friday the 13th calculator when that superstition calendar is the actual question.
